Sealants

What is sealant made of?
A sealant is a plastic resin that fits into the narrow grooves of your teeth, serving as a blockade against plaque, acids and food debris. When your dentist Flint MI applies sealant, the tooth may be “roughened” with an acid solution first. This guarantees that the plastic material remains on the tooth. The sealant is brushed on by your dentist and allowed to harden, sometimes with the help of a special curing light.

Long-Term Protection
Having sealant applied to your teeth allows you to better brush away food debris and acids that build up from food and beverages. The sealant should last for several years and is designed to endure under the pressure of chewing. Just to be sure everything is as it should be, the dentist will check the sealants during your routine dental check-up.
